We hope you are safe and taking care in the wake of Typhoon Halong. Several people have reached out to KRITFC wondering how to donate traditional foods to families and communities affected by the storm. Here is some information.

For evacuees displaced in Anchorage: Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) and the Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) are accepting traditional and subsistence foods donations to cook and/or distribute to folks in Anchorage.

  • Make sure all donations - like seal, fish, game, berries, and others - are in good condition, harvested and frozen or preserved within the past year.

  • We are not aware of any freight collection efforts in Anchorage at this time. Please pack donations on your next trip to Anchorage or arrange for someone in Anchorage to pick-up and drop-off.

  • For drop-off at ANTHC:

    • Bring donations to ANTHC Lodging at Tudor Centre, 4001 Tudor Centre Drive, on Monday-Friday from 9am to 4pm.

    • For small donations, please bring to the food service staff in the Cafe.

    • For large donations - requiring assistance with large coolers or heavy boxes - please come inside first to connect with food service staff.

    • For more information, please email NativeFood4Life@anthc.org.

  • For drop-off at ANHC:

    • Sign up for a 20-minute donation drop-off appointment online here or by calling 907-205-0068. ANHC is located at 8800 Heritage Center Dr, Anchorage, AK 99504.

    • For more information, please email nativefoods@alaskanative.net.

For evacuees displaced in Bethel and surrounding villages: We are not aware of any organized efforts to collect and distribute traditional foods at this time, but sharing foods with affected families is happening as people reach out for assistance one-to-one, on Facebook, etc.

  • If you have foods you would like to donate, please contact our office at 907-545-7388 (text/call) or emailing info@kritfc.org to coordinate.
