2021 Kuskokwim River Subsistence Harvest and Effort Estimates

In 2021, KRITFC and Orutsararmiut Native Council Fisheries, in collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and independent contractors, collected and processed data to produce in-season subsistence salmon harvest and effort estimates from a lower river portion of the mainstem Kuskokwim River.

KRITFC Mobilizes Community Members To Participate In Clean Up Event

Winter is coming, and before snow covers the trash scattered around Bethel, volunteers are mobilizing over the weekend of Oct. 10 to collect trash in subdivisions and parks across the city. The event, “Clean Up Before Freeze Up,” is a play on the annual “Clean Up Green Up” event where community members clean up litter after breakup. The event will take place from Oct. 9 to 11.

KYUK: Science And Culture Merge As One At Summer Camp On The Kwethluk

In July, Orutsararmiut Native Council, or ONC, held its first Science and Culture camp for high school students. Campers collected juvenile fish, like baby king and red salmon, and participated in activities in avian biology, ethnobotany, and workshops on federal and state subsistence management.
